Dao Jing (道经)- 1 & 2

Filed under: Misc — Izzy @ 5:40 pm

1.

The evident Dao is not the perennial Dao
The vivid name is not the abiding name

The anonymous is the architect of the universe
The eponymous is the sources of myriad beings

/thus
Quiescence promotes insightfulness
Existence perpetuates manifestations

Coherent yet segregated
Amalgamated together into an enigma
Embedded with mysteries ruling all wonders.

2.

Established aesthetics cultivates excrescence
Worshipped magnanimity seeds villainy

/thus
Being and non-being birth induce mutually
Toughness and ease leans on each other
Length divulges shortness and vice versa
Highness and lowness interact.
Sound and voice harmonize
Precursor and successor sequence chronologically

/thus Sages manage to
Manoeuvre nothing but everything
Initiate beings with gnomic teachings
Charge with succinct command
Forge but do not claim
Innovate but do not presume
Succeed but do not dwell on success
Endure eternally thanks to no obsession about success

GRE context

Filed under: Misc — Izzy @ 4:42 pm

As part of an intensive preparation for my second attempt on GRE, forthcoming posts would be adjusted to GRE style that means the language of depiction is to contain more aphorism as well as a deeply sporadic spectrum of degree so that I can practice some literally advanced vocabulary. GRE words and others potentially relevant will be in bold characters.

Erudite neophyte, somewhat I start to label myself as, will surely take a long journey to truncate the wording style to an optimal laconic amount, yet comprehensible, still.

I would like to make  a quote from Lao Tzu (老子) :“The good doesn’t debate. Debaters ain’t good” @ Dao De Ching ( 道德经 ) - chapter 81 as the sentence of the day, 1st day of The Lunar Year of Ox. Trying to make my own translation into English based on the Han-Viet version since I personally learn that all contemporary in-English ones sound not good.

RCL content

1/ - Column shear analysis

- Dynamic structural analysis

- Blasting pressure analysis

- Wind load analysis

2/ Flexural failure

- Tension failure

- Compression failure

3/ Shear failure : to be resisted by increasing the cross section or adding more stirrup. The second choice may  be easier in practice, however not so economic. Ductile materials can sustain more load in the tension test prior to their failure. To verified whether flexural failure or shear failure occurs first, ration between nominal moment and nominal shear is to be checked.

Tension crack in comp. modeling appears to be perpendicular to the plane section of the beam. Shear crack on the other hand tens to incline at an angle of around 45 deg.

My precious Dell XPS 1530 finally arrived !

It just rocks ! Many thanks to mama, my cousin Giang, and Ms.Linh.

This post is made by Windows Live Writer, just successfully configured my blog into its setting. Quite a handful tool for non-IT-professional bloggers.
